In addition, the organizers aimed to introduce newly established microbreweries from various regions of the Czech Republic to Prague residents.
As every year, a limited edition of the festival beer was available for tasting in the amount of 450 liters, this time named with the poetic name Holešovický beyk. There was also great interest among festival visitors in the Festival Beer Coaster of the same name.
One of the few beer festivals held in September 2020 despite the coronavirus quarantine was the festival of small and mini Czech breweries “Pivo v tržnici” (Beer in the Market). The location was the Prague Market (Holešovice), in Prague 7. It was the ninth time, and it was nerve-wracking until the last moment. For both the organizers and the participating breweries. Would the festival really take place or not? The situation changed every day. And most importantly, the increase in confirmed coronavirus cases was still accelerating. The color map was changing, and Prague was the worst affected. The reason for leaving the traditional Náplavka was a lack of suitable dates for the event.
The participation of Budějovický Budvar (Budvar České Budějovice) in a beer festival of small and mini Czech breweries might certainly surprise or astonish many a visitor. However, it is necessary to state and increasingly emphasize that this is a national brewery, whose actions we all rightly can and must monitor closely. And since Budvar has recently chosen to collaborate with six microbreweries as a project, there is no longer a need to ponder why they participated in this festival. How the collaboration works and what it brings to both sides is described elsewhere in the publication. The group of collaborating microbreweries includes Pivovar Antoš, Pivovar Clock, Pivovar Cobolis, Pivovar Nachmelená opice, Pivovar Permon, Rodinný pivovar Zichovec, and Pivovarský dvůr Zvíkov.
